Family Promise of Birmingham (Previously named -Birmingham Hospitality Network)

Family Promise of Birmingham, founded in 1998 as the Birmingham Hospitality Network , is a network of diverse faith and civic organizations working together to provide safe, home-like lodging where homeless families can stay together while working to regain their independence. On any given day, more than half the guests served by Family Promise-Bham are children. Families served spend one week in each of 15 different support congregations in the Birmingham area.

How St. Stephen’s Can Help: St. Stephen’s hosts the families approximately once each quarter, housing them in Carpenter Hall with volunteers bringing in supper each evening and serving as overnight hosts. Volunteers are also needed to help setting up the rooms for the families, shopping for groceries the week they are with us and doing the laundry when the guests depart.
