In chapter 12 of his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul’s analogy of the body having many parts with different functions or gifts propels us to the realization that there are many gifted ministers within any congregation. We would not be following the Word of God nor our Baptismal Covenant, if we were not discerning to what ministry the disciples at Saint Stephen’s are called. And so, in order to give life and call to the ministry to those who are called to pastoral care, Saint Stephen’s has trained our first group of Lay Chaplains.
These Lay Pastors help in the ministry to our parishioners who, because of various reasons, cannot be here to worship with the community. These may be shut-ins, or someone recovering from a surgery, or even those who are in grief because of death or other circumstances. It is with this in mind that we have trained several parishioners to be chaplains to the family of Saint Stephen's. Please remember them in your prayers.
