Greater Birmingham Ministries
Saint Stephen's supports many agencies with yearly financial grants. This month we are spotlighting our relationship with Greater Birmingham Ministries. GBM was founded in 1969 in response to urgent human and justice needs in the greater Birmingham area. It is a multi-faith, multi-racial organization that provides emergency services for people in need and engages the poor and the non-poor in systemic change efforts to build a strong, supportive, engaged community and pursue a more just society for all people.
Volunteer opportunities include: Angel Tree Ministry, food drives, volunteering to prepare and deliver summer lunch program meals, helping with voter registration, and food bank pickups.
This summer, Saint Stephen's participated in GBM's Thank God I'm Fed (FGIF) program. We prepared and provided lunches for children who are on a school lunch program during the school year to ensure that they got nutritious meals throughout the summer.
