Pathways is the oldest, continuously operating agency in Birmingham dedicated to serving homeless and near-homeless women and their children, serving 1,200-1,500 annually. Through its downtown Day Center program, the agency provides food, clothing, showers, laundry facilities and case management. Pathways also operates a transitional shelter at its downtown location for women without children and will soon be starting a rapid re-housing program for women with children. The agency’s Safe Haven program provides permanent, supportive housing for chronically homeless women with a mental illness. This program is the only one of its kind for women in Alabama.
How St. Stephen’s Can Help: Pathways needs volunteers to help on site with meals, the front desk, and the clothing boutique. For more details, visit www.pathwayshome.org and click on “How You Can Help”.
