Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church –
Seeking Parish Life Coordinator

Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church, an inclusive, dynamic, 2000-member, mission-focused Episcopal Church is seeking to hire a Parish Life Coordinator to become a part of our creative and collaborative team. This position is designed for a lay person of the Episcopal Church and will remain open until a Parish Life Coordinator is hired. The position is full time with some evening work.

The Parish Life Coordinator works to help the Saint Stephen’s community gather and connect through fellowship, special events, hospitality, and outreach projects.  From coordinating our fellowship groups such as our Young Adults, Middlers, Boomers, and LGBTQ+ fellowship, taking the lead on shaping hospitality ministries, championing our outreach ministries, to leading design processes on various parish retreats, the Parish Life Coordinator will serve as a key member of the Program Staff.

A basic proficiency with Microsoft Office along with a willingness and aptitude to learn other applications such as (but not limited to) database software (Realm), email programs (Constant Contact), and project management software (Asana) will be crucial for success in this role.  The core values of our staff are to strive for excellence, be flexible and open, seek collaboration, empower others, and take growth and well-being seriously.

Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church is in the heart of Cahaba Heights at the intersection of Vestavia Hills and Mountain Brook, Alabama. Founded out of a trailer in 1973, focused on mission and outreach, Saint Stephen’s has grown to one of the largest and most vibrant congregations in the Diocese of Alabama. Today, Saint Stephen’s continues to be a beacon for the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for the building of community while focusing its sights continually on the needs of those outside her open doors and windows. While the church has a neighborhood feel, with a well-established preschool, our parishioners come from 37 zip codes in the greater Birmingham area. The pillars of our community life are Formation, Pastoral Care, Outreach, and Care of Creation, all pointing us toward and based in our worship of Christ.
