Our next Parish-wide Outreach event will be Saturday, September 21st. We have planned two opportunities for persons of all ages and abilities.
The first is a Rise Against Hunger event which will be held in the Saint Stephen’s parish hall. Rise Against Hunger is a growing global movement to end hunger by hosting events during which volunteers package meals which are then distributed to food insecure communities all over the world. We will need 10-15 volunteers for both set-up and clean-up, as well as volunteers to package the meals. We anticipate packing 16,200 meals over the course of two hours. We will need 75-120 volunteers to accomplish this goal. Set-up will be from 9:00 – 10:30, packaging of meals from 10:30 – 12:30 and clean-up from 12:30 – 2:00. This is a very family-friendly event and can include children as well as older adults. To volunteer, please access registration through the link that is provided. Registration is vital so that we know how many to expect.
Our other outreach event will be at Christ Episcopal Church in Fairfield. Saint Stephen’s partners with Christ Church to support one another in our parish ministries. On Saturday the 21st, we will be assisting them with yard work and some general property beautification. There will also be an opportunity to help paint some interior spaces. Both areas will require that the volunteers bring the requisite tools. These items could include a hedge trimmer, leaf blower, rakes, trash bags, clippers, or any sort of tool that could be used for yard work. Please bring a water bottle and gloves for your personal use. For the indoor painting, they need us to bring tall ladders. They will provide the paint and brushes. This event will begin at 9:30 and finish up around noon. There is a sign-up genius link provided below.
