Saint Stephen's seeks Minister for Welcome and Evangelism

Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church, an inclusive, dynamic, 1800-member, mission-focused Episcopal Church is seeking to hire a Minister for Welcome and Evangelism to become a part of our creative and collaborative team. This position is designed for a lay person of the Episcopal Church and will remain open until a Minister for Welcome and Evangelism is hired. The position is designed to be full-time and can be 30 to 40 hours a week (to be negotiated).

The primary purpose of the Minister for Welcome and Evangelism is to facilitate connection among Saint Stephen’s members, newcomers, and visitors. By connecting the community of Saint Stephen’s to different worship, formation, pastoral care, outreach, and care of creation opportunities and ministries, individual members of the community will deepen their commitment to serving God and grow in their relationship with Christ.

A basic proficiency with Microsoft Office along with a willingness and aptitude to learn other applications such as (but not limited to) database software (ACS), email programs (Constant Contact), and project management software (Asana) will be crucial for success in this role.

Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church is in the heart of Cahaba Heights at the intersection of Vestavia Hills and Mountain Brook, Alabama. Founded out of a trailer in 1973, focused on mission and outreach, Saint Stephen’s has grown to one of the largest and most vibrant congregations in the Diocese of Alabama. Today, Saint Stephen’s continues to be a beacon for the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for the building of community while focusing its sights continually on the needs of those outside her open doors and windows. While the church has a neighborhood feel, with a well-established preschool, our parishioners come from 38 zip codes in the greater Birmingham area. The pillars of our community life are Formation, Pastoral Care, Outreach, and Care of Creation, all pointing us toward and based in our worship of Christ.
