The Outreach Alcove Introduces the "Caring Tree"

In 1973 St. Stephen’s started with the basic tenets, according to Doug Carpenter, of worship, study, and fellowship. Quickly and naturally after that came outreach!

Outreach is something St. Stephen’s does as a regular part of our giving.  The Pew to 10K was one of the most recent visible signs of this.   Not everyone reaches out the same way.  Some build houses while others deliver flowers – but it all reaches out to someone who needs community.

Outreach is such a big part of the St. Stephen’s community that we built an alcove in the hallway dedicated to this passion. Tireless volunteers have carried gallons of water, lugged boxes of tissues, peanut butter, and supplies needed to waiting cars to be distributed to agencies across our city and beyond. The outstretched arms that receive these gifts are grateful for the kindness.

Let me now introduce you to the Caring Tree!  The Caring Tree will be a permanent fixture for the year with the ‘leaves’ changing monthly.  Each leaf (tag) will list what is needed – a specific item or possibly a way to serve – from the agency that is our focus for the month.

Take a leaf, or 2, and bring the item(s) back to the Outreach Alcove within the same month.  Easy!!!
