Calling All Writers and Would-Be Writers!

You are invited to join with others in a brand-new writing group that meets weekly during the year--with lots of time off!

Right now, we are working on an archival project to record the events, memories, and reflections in response to the events of June 16, 2022. In our workshop, currently Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m., we have a short writing lesson to enrich our ongoing work. In a few weeks, writers will begin meeting with the editor individually to finalize submissions for this project.

After that, we plan to begin a new theme called “Writing Our Best Memories.”

You are invited to join us at any time--once, every week, or you can choose to participate in the archive project only. Everyone is welcome to contribute to our current project—Boomers, clergy, first-responders, family members, office staff, bow makers, kitchen helpers, counselors, flower arrangers, and other interested parties. We want to hear from all of you.

You do not have to be a skilled writer to participate. You may choose to “tell” your story, and your submission will be professionally written and edited for you.

The editor for our archive project and the facilitator for our workshops is Melinda Rainey Thompson, an author, speaker, and teacher. Reach out to Mel at 205.515.6040 or mthompso@bsc.edu if you are interested in learning more.

Our first project seeks to tell our story from the Saint Stephen’s point of view, and our final collection will be an evergreen book that will be hopeful, healing, and uplifting—a support to our mission to spread our message of love to the world.
