Hands-On Lenten Workshop Series
We're excited to debut our 2023 Lenten series, which will take place on Wednesday from 6:30-7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. For the first four Wednesdays in March, we will share 30-minute, hands-on contemplative workshops for adults, facilitated by some of our own very accomplished and creative parishioners.
Jennifer Jones will lead a concurrent Lenten series for children (kindergarten to grade 6) with a parallel, age appropriate activity. Children will meet Jennifer in the Parish Hall at the end of dinner, walk with her to Carpenter Hall, and be walked back to the Parish Hall to meet their families at 7 p.m. (Nursery is available for children ages 4 and under.)
Lenten Workshop Detailed Schedule
March 1: Artist Liz Edge will guide us in weaving the prayer ribbons from Summer 2022 into four clergy stoles. Participants may also write additional prayer ribbons. The stoles and frontal will be used each year when we remember our June 16 martyrs.
March 8: Author Melinda Rainey Thompson will guide us in beginning to write our own Lenten reflections, that we may continue to work on our own throughout Lent.
March 15: Master gardeners (and Soil Sisters) Chris Boles, Lois Chaplin, and Lanier Gartland will guide us in potting a plant to nurture at home, and reflect on how being in nature and nurturing plants is a way to draw near to God.
March 22: Artist and designer Charles Buchanan will guide us in sketching and blind contour drawing as a way of reflecting on imperfection, and share ideas for how sketching may serve as a contemplative practice.
No registration is required, just come enjoy dinner with us and stay on to engage in some hands-on contemplative practices and share time together.
